The Publishers Association of the South established this award to acknowledge, with gratitude, Robin Mays for her unusual and sustained contributions to book publishing in the Southern United States and to foster and reward these same characteristics in the future. Each year, the award is given by the Publishers Assocation of the South, as may be appropriate, to those who have continued the course of excellence so firmly established by the woman we seek to honor in this way.

The Publishers Assocation of the South was greatly saddened to lose Robin Mays in early 1999. A memorial fund in the name of Robin Mays has been set up with the Susan Komen Breast Foundation to be used for publicity materials that will help all women.
